Fundamental performance factors

I listened to Michael Vaughan and Phil Tufnell last night discussing England’s remarkable 1st test win over Sri Lanka in Cardiff. Nothing remarkable about that but for the number of times in the conversation they talked about fundamental performance factors like belief, mindset, momentum and how one person’s nervousness can sweep through a dressing room and a team.

Again nothing remarkable, because it’s sport they’re talking about…

And yet in business these integral performance factors – attitude, belief, mindset, and momentum, are talked about less often. How big is your opportunity to talk about these things, to improve your performance, and the performance of those in your team or those around you?

Yesterday, with hindsight,  it would seem that Sri Lanka’s mindset was all wrong. Too relaxed? Turning up in jeans? Have you got your mindset right?
